Summary

Sweetspot started as a grow facility in Rhode Island. They secured a license and opened a medical dispensary in Maryland in 2019.

Since then, they’ve focused on making cannabis approachable for their patients. They do this through education, working to fit patients with the right types of terpenes and cannabinoids, and listening and improving their processes to make each transaction seamless and enjoyable.

Beyond their current store in Maryland, Sweetspot is set to open its first retail shop in Portland, Maine in August 2021. It’s part of their broader vision to intertwine cannabis in the lives of both medical patients and adults over the age of 21.

A philosophy they want their patients to live by is to “stop and smell the flowers.” They aim to help people slow down and enjoy the moment.

The challenge

In order for Sweetspot to truly stand out in Maryland’s medical cannabis market, they needed every aspect of their business to run smoothly. In a 900 square foot space, there's no time to waste if they want to be successful.

From patient check in, to printing labels, to getting products in hands and out the door, they needed everything to be quick and efficient.

The solution

With Flowhub, the Sweetspot team is able to focus on their primary goals. They have a solution that works in tandem with their daily workflows, not separately.

They use the Nug Pro® mobile scanner to facilitate patient check in. It’s one of Peter Franklin’s (Sweetspot’s Dispensary Manager) favorite features.

“Our average customer wait time is 2.5 minutes. That’s a function of our staff doing a great job as well as Flowhub making the sales process quick and easy for our patients. I think that's a big part of why we’ve been successful in Maryland.”

Not only has the Nug revolutionized in-store purchases, it’s made it easy to fulfill order ahead transactions too.

Franklin’s team transitioned to order ahead and curbside pick up during the pandemic. They’ve stuck with it because the process allows them to conduct a higher number of transactions.

Since their physical store is small, using the Nug to facilitate curbside orders has dramatically increased the traffic and volume they can handle.

“Being able to use the Nug and run out to cars and get people checked in really quick. We can get people in and out in 5-10 minutes depending on the size of their order.”

They’re also using Flowhub to accelerate patient check out and Metrc compliance.

“The nice thing about Flowhub is when it pulls patient data from Metrc. Other softwares, you’d have to look up what their daily purchase is and do math to know how much more they can purchase," says Franklin.

With Flowhub, Sweetspot's team no longer has to manually report to Metrc or check to make sure a customer is still under their allotted purchase limits.
